The first plantation community you pass once on Hilton Head Island, Windmill Harbour’s location is close to schools both off- and on-island as well as shopping, dining, and entertainment.  These 170 acres border the Intracoastal Wateway and the Calibogue Sound, lying across from the Outdoor Resorts Yacht Club.  Windmill Harbour is the location of the South Carolina Yacht Club as well as both a massive marina and an extremely advanced lock system, which poses as one of the community’s main attractions.  Another eye-catching feature is Windmill Harbour’s 15-acre inland harbour; it is double the size of Sea Pines Resort’s Harbour Town.

   The clubhouse, designed with Windmill’s usual Charleston-inspired theme, rests beside Calibogue Sound and hosts fine dining and plans cruises and social events for residents.  The sports center here offers yoga classes, multiple clay tennis courts, a 25-meter swimming pool, Jacuzzi, saunas, dressing rooms, and a pro shop;  jogging and bike trails form a system of paths throughout the neighborhood.  However, Windmill is unique to Hilton Head because there are no golf courses.

   Seven Har-Tru tennis courts are located at Windmill Harbour’s South Carolina Yacht Club sports center complete with a pro shop, saunas, and dressing rooms.
